United Methodist Women May the grace of Thus may we The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission ministries of the church. Each member of United Methodist Women participates in her own way; gives of time and money at her own discretion. Who, then, are the United Methodist Women? They are persons who have a sense of commitment and concern for others, who seek to identify with a group of like-minded women in working together toward the realization of the PURPOSE for which this new organization is coming into being.
Local Units of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (approximately 35,000)
provide funds for mission and membership development locally, as well as in the
districts, the conference and the jurisdictions. Additionally, through
pledge-to-missions, they provide the budget with large appropriations to both
World and National Divisions for the programs and projects which they administer
on behalf of the Women's Division.
